How to Join Troop 135 - Information for new scouts

STEP  1 - Visit the Troop’s webpage to familiarize yourself and bookmark the site.   http://www.carlislescouts.org/  You are encouraged to browse around the site to look at the Photos, Lists, Links, and Information.

STEP  2Use the “Subscribe” link at the website to join the Troop email list (Yahoo Group).  When you send your subscription request, please identify yourself as a Troop member, so the webmaster knows to accept your subscription.  This step is very important as all Troop communication is via email.

STEP  3Fill out the family contact information on Don Drinkwater’s “Troop 135 Record Form” and email this directly to don_drinkwater@comcast.net.  This form can be accessed under the Forms link at the website.  Don uses this information to communicate about rank advancement and merit badges, which he tracks for Troop135.

STEP 4 - Give the following items to the Troop Registrar.  Do your best to pass in all items at once, or it’s difficult to track what is missing:

  • Boy Scouts of America “Youth Application”.  This form is available at the website.  Only one page need be printed, which then must be signed by the Scout Master Peter Tocci.

  • Boy Scouts of America Class 3 Medical Form.  This is also available at the website.  Please complete sections I, II, III &VI.  You may skip Sections IV, V and VII, which are covered by the next item below….

  • A copy of the Scout’s most recent annual physical health form from his Health Care Provider, as well as a copy of his immunization record.

  • A copy of the scout’s Medical Insurance card.

  • Dues are currently $40 and are payable to “Troop 135”.  They are collected each fall, during Troop Rechartering.  Hence, new scouts joining in May/June pay nothing until the fall.

NOTE for Adults - To register as an Adult with the Troop, please complete the Adult Registration form, also available under “Forms” at troop website.  Once you have filled this out, Basil Bourque must sign it.  Please note there is now an additional page you must sign for conducting a CORI check, and you must provide a photocopy of your Driver’s License.  Neither medical forms nor dues are collected from Adult applicants.  All adult leaders must complete Youth Protection Training at http://olc.scouting.org/ and verify with George Mulgrew their date of completion.  Finally, any adult who wishes to drive non-family members to/from Scout trips must email the following information to George Mulgrew  geomulgrew@comcast.net: Vehicle year/model, Owner’s Name, Driver’s License number, Auto Insurance carrier
